(Grazulis) deaths in Duncan, MS, or so it appears. Thus the explanation for our
employment of a death toll range for all three states of 27-29.

Feb 25, AP: “Dallas, Tex., Feb. 25 – (AP) – Four persons were killed and at least seven seriously injured in severe windstorms which swooped town on two Northeast Texas communities today, flattening flimsy structures and twisting other of more stable construction.
“At Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Jones were killed when a tornado, which swept through a path less than 200 feet wide and about half a mile long, crashed their house to ground….
“At Grand Prairie, ten miles from Dallas, another high wind took the lives of two negroes, Alfred Gibson, 46, and his wife, 22….Gibson was killed instantly when the wind leveled their small house, and his wife died while in an ambulance on the way to Dallas.

Feb 26, AP: “Memphis, Feb. 26. – (AP) – Search of the ruins of Duncan, Miss., today revealed the bodies of seven additional victims of yesterday’s tornado, and increased the storm toll in the states of Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas to 29. Twenty-one were killed in Duncan.
“Most of the dead in Mississippi were negroes and Chinese while two white persons were killed in the collapse of a home near DeWitt, Arkansas, and two white persons and two negroes lost their lives in Texas.
“Rec Cross workers on duty at Duncan since shortly after the tornado struck, dispensed food and coffee to the destitute today, while national guardsmen guarded the debris blocked streets and highways to prevent looting.
“Officials estimated the damage to $250,000, and the damage to Texas approximately the same amount.
