Jan 5: “Oglethorpe, Ga. (AP) – A flash fire of undetermined origin burned to death five children here late Monday night [Jan 4] while their parents were visiting nearby. Oglethorpe Fire Department officials said the father and mother Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Lee Walker were visiting at a party next door. When the father returned to the house to get a package of cigarettes and opened the door he was met by flames from the inside of the frame dwelling.
