March 9, Salt Lake Tribune: “Taipei, Taiwan (AP) — A U.S. Air Force C130 Hercules cargo plane crashed in central Formosa Saturday night, killing 9 of 12 crewmen aboard, the U.S. Air Force announced Sunday. The Air Force said the plane crashed on a runway while making a landing approach to Ching Chuan Kang Air Base in Taichung. It said the plane was assigned to 776th Tactical Airlift Squadron, 314th Tactical Airlift Wing, Formosa.
