Procter: “Sch. Cunard, 74.65 tons…lost on the Banks in November or December…Crew list…[14 names].”  (Procter 1882, 76)

Sheedy: “Sch. Cunard…built at Essex, lost off Grand Bank in early winter, 1878 [previous page notes Nov.]… [list of 14 names].”  (Sheedy. “The Cunard,” Out of Gloucester.)

Chester Daily Times, PA, Feb 6, 1879: “The schooner Cunard, which sailed from Gloucester, Mass., last June for Greenland, has not been heard of since October 20th, when she touched at Port Mulgrave, N.S. and she is given up for lost.  She had a crew of 12 men.”  (Chester Daily Times. “Latest News,” 2-6-1879, p.1, c.3.)
