Swayze “Tribune. Bulk freight schooner of 276 t. [tons] and 104 ft., launched in 1847 at Chicago.

“Lake Michigan: Ten lives were lost when this vessel sank, a considerable number for such a small vessel. The little schooner disappeared on April 18, 1848, in upper Lake Michigan. For more than a year her fate was unknown. In November of 1849, Indian fishermen discovered her upright masts still visible below the surface off Cathead Point, at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula.” (Swayze, David D. Shipwreck!…Directory…Shipwrecks on the Great Lakes. 1992, p. 234.)
