NCDC: “North Texas [April] 27-Late PM – 28 Early AM…Flooding. Intense thunderstorm rains blanketed most of North Texas during the late evening and early morning hours. Some of the most intense rainfall occurred near Rockwall where approximately 10 inches fell from 9 to 11 PM. Other areas did not receive as much rainfall, but creeks and rivers were overflowing over much of the area. As a result, 8 people died from drowning during the night, and all were related to cars driving into high waters.” (NCDC. “Storm Data and Unusual Weather Phenomena.” Storm Data. 27/4, April 1985, p. 41.)
